The Flight of the Squirrel
Post #1522 • February 21, 2012, 9:52 AM
We were hiking with friends out in the Blue Hills yesterday when suddenly something fell to the ground in a graceful, three-yard wide spiral, stopped for a moment, then scampered up a tree. Thus I saw a flying squirrel for the first time.

He descended to drink out of a creek at the base of the tree.

He had a proportionately larger head than a standard-issue squirrel, big black eyes, and loose skin along his body. All in all, he looked like a baby squirrel that had melted a bit in the oven.
