new image gallery

Lately I've been busy with this. Be it ever so humble, it's running off of a MySQL backend. Plus, when the images display by year with thumbnails, a script goes to get the thumbnail, and if it can't find one, it makes one. Heh.

I'm envious. I wish I had the ambition to learn how to do this kind of thing.

I love simple white layouts like this, the work is really great too. It might be nice to have the thumbnails in two columns.

Forcing the user to go back to the thumbnail page in order to select the next large image is lame. Eliminate one mouse click by using some form of "Previous Next" navigation button on the large image pages. The number of hits on the larger images will increase.

Conaan, thank you.

George, that's a good idea. Unfortunately the database itself isn't sequential, so I'd have to feed the thumbnail page into the individual image page somehow. I'll think about it - it ought to be do-able.

Franklin,

The generated url for the big pics is
..... cat=art&page=images&id=8

won't next as ... &id=9 work?z

I like that self portrait which links to your main page a LOT.

George, there's no guarantee that the art in row 9 has anything to do with row 8.

Kathleen, thanks. That was from a 2003 series. Occasionally I go on a Piero kick.

have you thought about using an image gallery software like Gallery 2 out of all of them its probably the easiest to make look the way you want, not to take away from your admirable MySQL skillz at all
