Yesterday I visited Elisa Turner at Baptist Hospital (room 1019). She can converse, and she recognizes everyone even though she has no memory of her accident (which left her unconscious for two days). She can walk with assistance, and she describes her physical therapy as extremely helpful. She has been improving at a promising speed and her husband, Dr. Eric Smith, thinks that the hospital will discharge her as an inpatient in a couple of weeks. She asked me to let everyone know, via the blog, that she can't write thank-you notes quite yet, but that she truly appreciates the many cards and good wishes she has received.

Great news. Her hometown friends have been pulling for her, too.
