whitney biennial possibly cancelled for 2006

Post #200 • January 27, 2004, 6:27 AM • 2 Comments

An astute Tyler Green gleaned from an Art Newpaper piece that the Whitney's new director is considering a cancellation of the 2006 Whitney Biennial.

While Mr. Weinberg has not decided how to organise the 2006 biennial, he is giving serious thought to "an installation of the entire museum top-to-bottom with the collection."

Maybe the management realizes that the Biennial is a joke.

Yeah, you couldn't pay me enough to be in that joke of a show.

The whole thing turned out to be a big mix-up. Jason Edward Kaufman: "I want to clear up a minor confusion about my piece on Adam Weinberg. My original text read, "Mr Weinberg has not decided how to organize the 2006 edition. Asked about future projects he mentions giving serious thought to an installation of the entire museum top-to-bottom with the collection." The edited version cut out the "asked about future projects," and the resulting text could suggest he's thinking of swapping the collection show for the Biennial, which is not the case. Sorry for the confusion."
