glitterbox

Necee Regis, whom some of you may remember as Miss Crabby from the old days of the Miami Art Exchange, will be reading excerpts from her novel Glitterbox at the Miami Book Fair this Sunday at 10:30 am as part of the Gulfstream Magazine panel. Miss Crabby used to review exhibitions while referring to herself in third person, like Miss Manners, and she was merciless.

Glitterbox describes the travails of a Miami artist, brimming with insecurities and watching her former D-students get shows in hip galleries, as she fights for local recognition and receives it in a form quite different than the one she expected. Your reporter has been allowed to read pieces of it, and it is hilarious. Warning: you, or someone a lot like you, may be in it. Bring your sense of humor.
