I ranted this recently:

Art with a malnourished aesthetic component may still be interesting, but so what? Do you want your food to taste good, or be interesting? Do you want your sex to feel good, or be interesting? Do you want your music to sound good, or be interesting? In each case, you probably want a nice dollop of the latter and bucketful of the former. I'm saying that the same goes for art.

Two days later this quote from Gustav Mahler appeared in a post on About Last Night:

Interesting is easy, beautiful is difficult.
